Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a Japanese energy healing practice whose name translates to “Universal Life Force Energy.” Many cultures have recognized this life-force energy throughout history, referring to it as ki, chi, or prana. Reiki is based on the belief that this universal energy flows through all living things and can support balance, relaxation, and overall well-being.
During a Reiki session, the practitioner gently places their hands on or just above different areas of the body, serving as a channel for this universal life-force energy. Many people describe the experience as deeply calming, often noticing sensations of warmth, peace, or gentle energetic movement while they rest comfortably.
Reiki is widely used as a complementary wellness practice to help reduce stress, encourage relaxation, and support the body’s natural healing processes. Many people also seek Reiki to ease physical discomfort, support the body’s recovery after injury, or soothe their nervous system. Every person’s experience is unique, but many clients leave feeling lighter, more balanced, emotionally centered, and deeply renewed.
